Nectar in a Sieve

Kamala Markandaya, the author of the best seller Nectar in a Sieve, is an astonishing writer who grew up in an Indian society. Although she has written many other books the Nectar and Sieve is considered her best work. In the novel, Kamala shows you the world in a different point view, by putting you in other peoples shoes. Kamal covers many themes throughout the novel such as hope in the face of suffering.

I will be reading this novel for my English class, and i find the author very interesting. With the many aspects that they portray in the story i believe that this will be a very entertaining book to read. I have read numerous book, but i feel as though this book we will be quite different from the ones i usually read. I also feel as though i will be learning about many ideas and cultures of this book. i am itching to read this book and i cant wait to tell you all about it as i flip through the pages of The Nectar in a Sieve!

The Hero Named Heracles

A mythic hero is a fictitious character who contains good characteristics such as courage, or nobility. One Greek hero that portrays a mythic hero is known as Heracles. A mythic hero is often the offspring of a god, deity, and human being. Heracles is the son of Zeus and Alcemene. Heracles also portrays a mythic hero, because of his superhuman strength, bestowed to him by his father.  Heracles is forced to take a set of challenges in order to clear his name for slaughtering his wife and children(he was driven to madness by the goddess Hera). His quest, which is a journey taken in search of something of value, which all mythic an folktale heroes have, was to face 12 devastating challenges, such as defeating the Nemian lion, or going to the underworld. The quest of Heracles portrays all the difficult challenges we have to go through in life.

Lego Robotics

Lego Robotics, is a good way to get to know people better, because of all the teamwork you get to do while constructing it. I got to know a lot about my other teammates. Programming the robot was the easiest part of Lego robotics. Building it was quite complicated and nerving for me. My teammates were quite cooperative, and we collaborated nicely. The name for our robot was called Blaze. She has 2 motors, and a light sensor. I feel like this wont be the last time we do Lego robotics.

Today in Computer Lit class to get better at making a LEGO Mindstorm, we started memorizing some pieces. So far, making a mindstorm looks pretty fun, and i cant wait till we actually start building one. There was some pretty cool parts, like the light sensor, and the motion sensor.

The Son of Neptune Chapter 3!

In this chapter, the secrets of the characters are revealed. To describe the story of Hazel Levesque  the story goes back to 1858. Hazel Levesque was an ordinary girl who lived in New Orleans with her vicious mother who mistreated her. Hazel was born with a gift to summon precious ores out of the ground such as gold or diamond. Her mother used this as an advantage and started selling those ores, but they all turned out to be cursed, because every person that owned that ore end up dying. Hazel and her mother become despised by the town people because of the ores. Hazel grows up knowing she has a curse but doesn't know how she got it. One day, when she had a huge fight with her mother, and was about to go outside, she was stopped by a very pale man, with a black cloak, who had shifting figures on them who looked like sad souls. The man gives her a box of crayons and some paper, explains to her that she is her father, and that he came here to see her mother. Hazel becomes furious because, all her life she has never seen her father, and when she needed him the most he wasn't there. As he goes upstairs to talk to her mother, Hazel goes to eavesdrop and see's that her parents are discussing about moving to Alaska. Her father says that Alaska is the one place where the gods cannot protect her, and Hazel  started to realize that her father is a god, Pluto in fact. Pluto tells her mother that she shouldn't have made that wish. Pluto, realizing that hazel is eavesdropping, says her mothers wish out loud: to have all the riches in the world, which is why Hazel has the curse. Her mother becomes furious and tells Pluto to leave. When Pluto leaves, her mom calls Hazel inside, and Hazel realizes that she wasn't eavesdropping very well. She tells Hazel to pack her bags and that they are going to Alaska.... But what the mother doesn't know is that she will make the gravest mistake of her life. I'll tell you about the mistake in the next chapter as soon as i'm done!

This song is made by recording artists's Will.I.Am and Britney spears and was released on November 27th 2012. It peaked as number three on the Billboards Hot 100, and got many positive reviews from music critics. The song is a mixture of dance of electro pop, and had has a very upbeat tune to it. It basically talks about going out and having fun. The music video was shot on October 2012 , and was released on November 28th 2012, on one of The X Factor episodes. The video was meant to be set in a futuristic time period, judging by the outfits Will.I.Am and Britney were wearing. Remember those little brick toys you use to play with when you were 5? that's right, i'm talking about LEGO's! You can show your creativity with these little bricks by constructing what ever you  imagine. Using this kit you can go even further and build a customizable robot called aLEGO Mindstorm. The Son of Neptune: Chapter 2!

This is the summary of the second Chapter of the Son of Neptune! Percy arrives at The Roman Camp and is found strange by the campers because of the way he calls the gods by there Greek name instead of their Roman name.Most of them fear him because of the power he showed when he used rivers to kill two monsters, and they immeadeatly knew he was the son of Neptune,(Poseidon for Greek name). They take him to Reyna, one of the leaders of the camp, and Percy tells her everything about him losing his memory. She accepts Percy at the camp, and tells him not to cause too much trouble. Percy quickly makes friends with two campers, a girl and a boy named Hazel Levesque, and Frank Zhang, both with terrible secrets that Percy does not know... Ill tell you there shocking secrets in the next chapter!

I knew You Were Trouble

American song-writer, Taylor Swift just released another hit song  from her fourth album "Red". The song was released on October 9th 2012, and got positive reviews. It debuted as Number three on the billboard top 100, and sold more than 416,00 copies of the album, in the first week. In this song Taylor tries to show the emotion of the song, by blending pop and dub step together. The song basically talks about her love life and how she made some bad decisions on choosing her boyfriends. In the music video Taylor wakes up in the middle of nowhere, and starts singing her flashbacks about her recent "boyfriend" that she broke up with, and how bad he was, lyrically saying "I knew you were trouble when you walked in."  Check out the video and tell me what you think!

This song is made by Canadian hip-hop artist, Drake, and was released on Feb 10 2013. This song described drake's early life, and  his rise to fame, lyrically saying for the chorus " started from the bottom now we here!" The Son of Neptune Chp 1

In the second book of the Heroes of Olympus series, The Son of Neptune, Percy Jackson, the protagonist of the old series is back and even stronger! But in this series Percy wakes up with no memory and is trained by a female wolf known as Lupa. Lupa then sends him to a camp in which there is demigods just like him. But what Percy doesn't know is that the place he is going is a Roman camp, and he is a Greek demigod! I'll keep you in touch as soon as i read the next chapter.
